Landscape character assessment
A landscape character assessment (LCA) is a management tool that helps us identify, map and assess the special qualities of an area of landscape.
The LCA is a reference document for everyone interested in the sustainable management of landscape in South Gloucestershire.
It helps us make informed decisions about how to manage development in the area.
What a landscape character assessment includes
Our LCA provides a statement of:
- the character of our special landscapes
- their distinctive attributes and features
- an assessment of the changes that are taking place in the landscape
- strategic guidance to help steer future management
The revised LCA was adopted by us on 12 November 2014. The next update will be in 2023.
