Report a problem with a road sign
Tell us if you see a road sign that is:
- damaged or knocked over
- missing
- faded
- covered by plants or dirt
We maintain thousands of road signs across South Gloucestershire, so telling us when you spot a problem can help us to fix it sooner.
How to report it
You can either do it:
- by signing in or registering for a South Gloucestershire Council account
or - as a guest – we will ask for your phone number and email address, but you do not have to give them
We need to know the location of the sign. You can also upload a photo to help us find the problem.
Problems with a street name sign should be reported via our report a problem with a street name sign page.
What happens next
We aim inspect and make safe or fix most road sign problems within 5 working days.
Illuminated signs with electrical problems can take longer, particularly if there is a fault with the electricity supply. This is because underground cable faults can take time to locate and may need to be fixed by the power supplier.
If the problem is with the sign face itself, it can take up to 8 weeks to repair. This is because many road signs are bespoke and have to be made to order.
