Register a building as a place of worship

You can register a building or room(s) as a place of worship. The application should be made by a person who acts as minister, proprietor or trustee of the place of worship.

How to apply

You will need to download and complete 2 copies of the application form (known as Form 76). The same information needs to be provided on both copies of the form.

You also need to provide:

• a building floor plan identifying which rooms will be used for worship
• an average weekly timetable for how the building will be used

Fee

A fee of £35.50 is payable at the time of application. Contact the Register Office by phone or email using the details below to arrange payment by debit or credit card (Visa or Mastercard).

Place of worship no longer in use

If the place of worship is no longer in use, you must complete the notice of disuse form (known as Form 77) and return it to our register office.
