Education, learning and skills strategies
We have the following strategies and policies relating to education, learning and skills.
Commissioning of places
The Commissioning of Places Strategy 2019 to 2023 contains the information required to form a strategic view of the need for school places across South Gloucestershire.
The commissioning process requires the strategic planning of services based on an analysis of need.
The strategy sets out demographic trends such as new major house building, current school and post-16 provision, analysis of pupil projections and analysis of funding.

SEND strategy
The South Gloucestershire Best Start for Children with Complex Needs and SEND group working with our local SEND community has developed a new strategy for SEND with the aim of establishing effective arrangements for meeting the needs of all children and young people across our local area. During the summer of 2023 we consulted widely on the draft strategy and feedback has helped us to decide the activities that we need to prioritise for the next two years. The strategy, a summary of the feedback and the next steps are set out in the documents below.
