A renewal of vows ceremony is for couples wishing to renew their marriage vows or civil partnership commitment.

Couples often have a ceremony to celebrate a special anniversary or to renew their commitment to each other after a period of difficulty.

If you were married or registered your civil partnership abroad, a ceremony also gives you an opportunity to say your vows in front of family and friends who were unable to be there.

You can rededicate your rings or exchange new rings or special gifts to mark the occasion. You can also include poems or readings.

Many couples often choose 2 friends or family members to act as honorary witnesses to this special event.

The ceremony and the certificate presented do not have any legal status.
