Request a pedestrian dropped kerb
A pedestrian dropped kerb is where the pavement is gently sloped to the same level as the road to help people cross to the other side.
They include tactile paving which helps visually impaired people identify where they are.
We prioritise installing them at locations that are:
- near shops or town centres
- on routes to schools
- near retirement homes
- anywhere where there is a higher number of wheelchair and mobility scooter users
If you want to request a new pedestrian dropped kerb or improve an existing dropped kerb location you can email us at transportservices@southglos.gov.uk with a location reference and photos if possible.
Requests are reviewed on a yearly basis and are prioritised based on need.
The number of pedestrian dropped kerbs that we approve a year varies depending on budget and resource availability.
