South Gloucestershire has more than 50 community orchards producing apples and pears, as well as plums, damsons and cherries. An orchard is defined as a group of 5 or more fruit trees.

Our orchards contain trees, deadwood, and meadow grass that create habitats in which nature can thrive. They help to:

  • produce blossom for pollinating insects
  • provide fruit for birds, insects, and mammals such as badgers and hedgehogs
  • improve air quality
  • create shade in our warming climate
  • improve the character of our green spaces

You are welcome to pick fruit from the trees but please leave some for the wildlife.
