Community orchards
South Gloucestershire has more than 50 community orchards producing apples and pears, as well as plums, damsons and cherries. An orchard is defined as a group of 5 or more fruit trees.
Our orchards contain trees, deadwood, and meadow grass that create habitats in which nature can thrive. They help to:
- produce blossom for pollinating insects
- provide fruit for birds, insects, and mammals such as badgers and hedgehogs
- improve air quality
- create shade in our warming climate
- improve the character of our green spaces
You are welcome to pick fruit from the trees but please leave some for the wildlife.
Volunteering
