Community orchards
South Gloucestershire has more than 50 community orchards that are open to everyone. They produce apples, pears, plums, damsons and cherries.
Community orchards contain trees, deadwood, and meadow grass that create valuable habitats for nature. They help to:
- produce blossom for pollinating insects
- provide fruit for birds, insects, and mammals such as badgers and hedgehogs
- improve air quality
- create shade
- improve green spaces
You can visit community orchards throughout the year and pick fruit when it is in season. Please leave some for the wildlife.
