Active travel grant

Grants of up to £10,000 are available to help organisations invest in practical changes to make active travel easier.

This could include:

• cargo bikes and e-bikes
• secure cycle storage and cycle parking
• repair stations
• changing facilities

The grant funding is from the council’s Climate and Nature Emergency Action Plan budget, and the Consolidated Active Travel Fund, administered on behalf of Active Travel England by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority.

Who can apply

You can apply if your organisation is based in South Gloucestershire, or if your project benefits South Gloucestershire communities.

Eligible organisations include:

• businesses
• charities
• voluntary and community groups
• schools
• town and parish councils

All funded equipment, facilities or infrastructure must be located within South Gloucestershire.

How to apply

Applications will open in October 2026.

Voluntary, community or social enterprise organisations, and town or parish councils must be registered with our community grants system before applying.

If your organisation is not already registered, contact travel.planning@southglos.gov.uk.

What happens next

Applications are reviewed and assessed. The highest scoring applications will be awarded a grant.

If your application is successful, you will need to provide monitoring information for 12 months after receiving the grant, along with evidence of what you purchased.
