Thornbury High Street
The ancient market town of Thornbury dates back to the 9th century. It is known for its historic high street, Thornbury Castle (now a luxury hotel) and the Church of St Mary the Virgin, both of which are Grade I listed.
The high street has a variety of independent shops and restaurants, and hosts regular markets. In the summer you’ll find it decked out with beautiful floral displays which regularly win awards in the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom competition.
Thornbury is a great place to explore by bicycle, being on a National Cycle Network route. If you visit by car, there is plenty of free, short-stay and long-stay parking in the public car parks at Rock Street, St Mary Street and Castle Court. More local parking information including full addresses can be found on our car parks page.
