All car parks are different, so check for local parking restrictions before you park your car.

All regulated car parks are patrolled by our civil enforcement officers. Penalty charge notices may be issued if your vehicle is not parked within the parking regulations.

Charges

You need to pay to park in certain council car parks from 19 May 2025. Several of our smaller car parks and park and ride facilities remain free.

In addition our short stay car parks have a number of spaces providing free parking for up to 30 minutes. These are clearly designated with signs and markings on the ground.

Short stay

The following charges apply Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm (excluding bank holidays):

Up to 30 minutes – free (only in specific spaces)
Up to 1 hour – 70p
Up to 2 hours – £1.30
Up to 3 hours – £3
Up to 4 hours – £5

Maximum stay 4 hours. No return within 4 hours.

You can only use one of the 30 minute free parking spaces in any 12 hour period.

As there is no long stay car park in Hanham, stays of between 2 and 4 hours at Laburnum Road car park costs £3.

Long stay

The following charges apply Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm (excluding bank holidays):

Up to 4 hours – £3
Up to 6 hours – £4
Over 6 hours – £5
1 week – £20

Season tickets for long stay parking

You can buy a season ticket for a long stay car park via the MiPermit website subject to availability.

1 month – £75
6 months – £435
1 year – £840

Parkway North Park and Ride and Abbey Wood train station

The following charges apply Monday to Sunday 24 hours a day (including bank holidays):

£2.60 per calendar day

Blue Badge holders

Short and long stay car parks are free for up to 4 hours for valid Blue Badge holders.

For stays over 4 hours in a long stay the following reduced charges apply:

Up to 6 hours – £1
Over 6 hours – £2
1 week – £8

Parkway North Park and Ride and Abbey Wood train station remain free for valid Blue Badge holders.

You can park in any space but you must correctly display your valid Blue Badge and time clock.

Electric vehicles

If you use an electric vehicle charging bay in any of the car parks where parking charges have been introduced you must pay for parking as well.

Motorcycles

Motorcycle parking continues to be free in designated motorcycle parking bays only. Motorcycles parked in standard bays must pay the standard parking charge.

Beware of scams

Do not scan any QR codes or barcodes to pay for your parking. Payment can be made safely and securely by using the options listed above.

When paying via the MiPermit app or website you can choose to do it with or without creating an account.
