A gaming permit is needed if a premises has amusements, prize or gaming machines, as stated in the Gambling Act 2005

Premises that should apply are: 

  • premises licenced to sell alcohol
  • clubs  
  • premises offering commercial prize gambling 
  • unlicensed family entertainment centres 

Exceptions 

The exception to obtaining a permit is that if you are the holder of a premises licence for an alcohol licensed premises under the Licensing Act 2003, you have automatic entitlement for use of up to two Category C or D machines if you notify us.

You must be 18 years old or over to apply for a gaming machine permit.
