Some users are currently experiencing problems accessing our Public Access (planning, building control and licensing applications) and Citizen Portal (school admissions and early year providers) systems. We are working to fix this as soon as possible.

Due to essential maintenance some of our online account services will be unavailable on Wednesday 20 November from 5pm to 10pm.

Adoption is all about making a positive difference to a child’s life and providing a stable, loving and permanent home for a child who is not able to live with their birth family.

Adopting in South Gloucestershire

Adoption West is the adoption agency for South Gloucestershire and other local councils.

It offers advice and support if you are considering adopting a child or children or if you live in one of the areas listed and have already adopted.

The Adoption West team are available to advise on:

  • adopting a child or children
  • non-agency partner adoption (previously known as step-parent adoption)
  • the Adoption Support Fund
  • the Birth Links support service for adopted adults and for birth relatives affected by adoption

They also run information sessions for people who are considering adoption. The sessions cover the adoption process, the type of children waiting to be adopted and give you a chance to hear from an experienced adopter.
