Apply for or renew a garden waste subscription

We offer fortnightly garden waste collections to subscribers. This service is available to all households in South Gloucestershire.

From 1 April 2024 it costs £60 per green bin for a year’s subscription. This is reduced to £30 per green bin if you receive certain benefits. 

Green bins are emptied on the same day as your black bin. Read the full garden waste collection service terms and conditions before proceeding.

To apply

You will need:

• a South Gloucestershire Council account
• a debit or credit card
• your National Insurance number to get a discount if you receive certain benefits
  

The easiest way to manage your subscription is to set it to auto renew. If you opt to not auto renew, you will need to renew it yourself every year.

If applying for the first time, make sure you tell us you need a new green bin when you subscribe. 

To renew

You can check if you have an existing garden waste subscription and when it is due to expire on our waste and recycling collection dates page. Note: if your subscription has expired it will say ‘No subscriptions found’ and you will need to apply again rather than renew.

To renew your subscription you will need:

• to log in to your South Gloucestershire Council account using the email address that you set it up with
• a debit or credit card
• your National Insurance number to get a discount if you receive certain benefits

Benefits that give you a discount

You are entitled to a 50% discount on each green bin in your subscription if you receive any of the following benefits:

• Income Support
• Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
• Income-based Job Seeker’s Allowance
• Income-based Employment and Support Allowance 
• Universal Credit and you are not working
