Learning and suitability assessment
We have used pilot sessions to help create the content for the assessment and align it with the statutory guidance. This makes sure there is maximum engagement with each driver candidate.
What to expect
Before the learning and suitability assessment you must read the Statement of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy 2021.
Some of the policy areas covered are:
- safeguarding
- equality duty
- law and conditions
- plying for hire
- customer care and safety
- English language proficiency
- vehicle maintenance
There is a written assessment during and a verbal assessment at the end of the session which you need to pass to continue your application.
You will also complete a Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) mandate consent form so that we can conduct a driving licence check and be given medical forms for the Group 2 medical check after the assessment.
Book an assessment
We are taking bookings for new driver candidates.
Email your booking request to taxilearning@southglos.gov.uk and include your:
- full name
- full address and postcode
- date of birth
- email address
- contact number
- photo or scanned image of the front and back of your current UK or EU driving licence
Once we have your booking request and details, we will contact you as soon as we can to conduct a suitability screening phone questionnaire. After that, we will advise if you can book a place for the learning and suitability assessment.
You will then need to make payment of £175.50 to confirm the booking.
