Inspiring women of South Gloucestershire
Our project identified and explored women’s stories over 100 years after the Representation of the People Act allowed some women to vote for the first time.
Discover the achievements of local women and their roles in the development of science, technology engineering, maths, industry, culture, sport, local politics, public service and social justice.
There is a presentation on the inspiring women nominees with information on significant events and changes in law.
It is divided into 6 areas of life where women have made an impact:
- local politics
- public service
- social justice
- industry, science, technology and maths (STEM)
Classroom resources and activities
Classroom activities and presentation slides are available for primary and secondary schools to download and use. The activities link to the national curriculum KS2 and KS3 for history and PSHE.
Women’s equality game
Play our board game based on snakes and ladders to promote discussion about women’s equality.
It is suitable for ages 11+.
There is a pack of cards to cut out with the timeline of laws which have affected women’s equality.
