Creative high streets grant
Following the success of the first round of the Creative High Streets Fund, grants of £1,000 to £5,000 are available again for local organisations and community groups to put on creative and cultural activities in our high street areas.
Examples of activities include local festivals, music performances, story walks, high street trails, workshops or demonstrations.
The grant may be used to pay for:
- expenses for volunteers
- creative practitioner fees
- materials and equipment to deliver the activity
- marketing and promotion

Who can apply
Grants are available to voluntary, community or social enterprise organisations and town and parish councils based in South Gloucestershire.
We cannot accept applications from individuals, businesses or ‘for profit’ organisations.
The grants must be used for creative and cultural activities that will take place in any of these high street areas:
- Chipping Sodbury
- Downend
- Filton
- Hanham
- Kingswood
- Patchway
- Staple Hill
- Thornbury
- Yate

It is your responsibility to make sure any relevant insurances, licences, notices, permissions and health and safety risk assessments are in place for your activity.
How to apply
Applications are open until 24 January 2027.
Before applying, read the guidance to check the grant principles and exclusions.
If you are eligible and would like to discuss an idea before applying, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.
To express your interest in applying for a grant, email highstreets@southglos.gov.uk with:
- your organisation name and address
- the name of the main contact
- a brief description of the activity (one sentence)
- the high street area that would benefit
We will check whether your organisation is registered on our community grants system. If it is, we will review the information we hold, including:
- contact details
- constitution
- equalities and diversity policy
- safeguarding policy
- financial accounts
We will let you know if anything needs to be provided or updated and send you the application form to complete.
If your organisation is not yet registered, we will contact you to explain the next steps.
What happens next
We will send a letter to notify applicants of the outcome. If successful, grant payments will be made by 12 March 2027.
Grants must be used by the end of 2027.
There is no appeals process.
