Apply for a street collection licence

You must apply for a street collection licence if you want to collect money for a charity or charitable purpose in a street, shop doorway, car park or outside area. 

If you want to collect money inside a building such as a shopping centre then you do not need a permit but you will need permission from the owner. 

How to apply

You should apply at least 28 days before your collection. 

To apply for a street collection licence you must complete the application on GOV.UK. 

Submit the application online or post your application to: Department for Place, Licensing Service, PO Box 1954, Bristol, BS37 0DD. 

There is no fee for a street collection licence.
