Updates on reported encampments

Following the process on our unauthorised encampments page, we will visit and assess an unauthorised encampment on council owned land within 48 hours and then daily where possible.

Initial notification of a newly arrived encampment will be given to the local MP, local members, the clerk to the local town or parish council, the council’s corporate contact centre, press officer and the police. Information about the status of the encampment will then be updated daily on this page.

Reported unauthorised encampments

Rock Street Car Park, Thornbury

20 March 2026: An encampment of 8 caravans plus associated vehicles has been set up in Rock Street Car Park. Officers have visited the site and issued notices to leave.

Former Beko/Whirlpool factory site, Station Road, Yate

2 March 2026: the encampment has now departed.

28 February 2026: we have received reports about an unauthorised encampment at this site. We have begun our enforcement procedures.
