A neighbourhood planning referendum gives residents the opportunity to vote on whether a draft neighbourhood plan for their area should be adopted.

The plan sets out local policies and preferences for how the area should be developed.

If approved, the plan will be used alongside existing policies when planning decisions are made in the area.

A neighbourhood plan is adopted if more than 50% vote in favour.
