This page describes how to use Microsoft Teams to join a meeting when you have been invited by a South Gloucestershire Council member of staff.

Join a Teams meeting on an iPhone or iPad

1. If you haven’t already, install the Microsoft Teams app on your iPhone or iPad.

2. Open the Apple App Store App store icon, search for Microsoft Teams Microsoft Teams icon and install it on your device.

Once Teams has been installed, you’re ready to join the meeting

3. When it’s time for your meeting, open your meeting invite or go into your calendar appointment and click: Join Microsoft Teams Meeting

4. Microsoft Teams will open. Select Join as a guest.

5. Type your name and select Join as a guest:

6. You may be asked to allow Teams access to photos, video and audio. Click Allow on these prompts

7. You will now join the meeting. You will be in the ‘lobby’ until admitted to the meeting by a South Gloucestershire Council staff member

Join a Teams meeting on an Android device

1. If you haven’t already, install the Microsoft Teams app on your Android device.

2. Open the Google Play Store Play store icon on your Android device, search for Microsoft Teams Microsoft Teams icon and install it on your device.

Once Teams has been installed, you’re ready to join the meeting

3. When it’s time for your meeting, open your meeting invite or go into your calendar appointment and click: Join Microsoft Teams Meeting

4. If you’re asked to ‘Open with’, select Teams and select Always

5. Microsoft Teams will open. Select Join as a guest

6. Type your name and select Join as a guest

7. You may be prompted to allow Teams access to photos, video and audio. Click Allow on these prompts

8. You will now join the meeting. You will be in the ‘lobby’ until admitted to the meeting by a South Gloucestershire Council staff member

Join a Teams meeting on a computer

If attending a Teams meeting using a laptop or desktop computer, you do not need to install the Microsoft Teams app. You can use the ‘Join on the web’ option.

1. When it’s time for your meeting, open your meeting invite or go into your calendar appointment and click: Join Microsoft Teams Meeting

2. Click ‘Join on the web instead’ and Teams will open in your web browser

3. If prompted, click ‘Allow’ for your web browser to use your computer’s microphone and camera during the meeting

4. Type your name into the box. You can choose your audio and video settings for the meeting. Using the option on screen you can enable and disable your camera and microphone.

5. When you’re ready, click Join now

6. Please wait. You will be added to the meeting lobby and must wait for a South Gloucestershire Council staff member to admit you to the call
