General election 2024
A UK parliamentary general election usually takes place every 5 years. It will determine the composition of the House of Commons.
The 2024 UK general election is scheduled to be held on Thursday 4 July 2024. This includes the constituencies of Thornbury and Yate, and Filton and Bradley Stoke.

How to vote
You will need to prove your identity by showing photo ID to vote in person at a polling station.

The deadline to apply for a voter authority certificate if you don’t have eligible photo ID is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024.
To vote by post or by proxy
You can apply to vote by post or to vote by proxy if you are unable to go to the polling station on the day of an election or referendum.
