Area Wide Grants (AWG) are awarded to support community organisations working to reduce social and health inequalities across South Gloucestershire. The scheme is open for applications in 2023/24.

Who can apply

You can apply for AWG if you represent one of the following organisations:

  • a voluntary or community group
  • a charitable or social enterprise organisation
  • a town or parish council

What can be funded

Applications must be for projects that benefit our residents in at least 6 of the 14 Community Engagement Forum (CEF) areas. These are shown on the forum map.

Projects must contribute to one or more of the priorities and aims within the Council Plan 2020-24 to be eligible for funding.

Awards are made to projects that:

  • reduce isolation and exclusion
  • bring communities together
  • promote health and wellbeing
  • address a particular community need

View the case studies in the downloads section of this page for examples of projects that have been funded.

We publish all grant awards and project descriptions on the open data webpage

How the scheme works

Grants can only be made to registered organisations.

Read the principles document for information on the minimum and maximum levels of award, restrictions and exclusions and when payments are made.

Awards cannot be made to projects that have already taken place.

Further information can be found in the terms and conditions and frequently asked questions.

Timetable

Round 2 will open to applicants in September 2023.

The closing date for Round 2 applications will be 15 October 2023.

Applications will be reviewed by a sub-group of members in January 2024.

Applicant organisations will be notified of award decisions in March 2024.

Projects should not start until applicants are notified of a funding decision.
